Rames Guyane 2014, Single-Handed Rowing Race - Departure : March 02. 2014, Saint-Louis du Senegal.

Rames Guyane is the first and only Single-Handed Atlantic Rowing Race, an extremely tough transatlantic race qualifies as the “Everest” of the southern route because it is so physically and mentally demanding. The originality of the “Rames Guyane” race is that it allows solo rowers to pit themselves against other rowers in identical boats, following the same route. The ultimate goal for all solo rowers.

The first  Solo Atlantic Rowing Race was held in 2006 enabling 15 pioneer rowers to  row across the  Atlantic  from St-Louis du Senegal to Cayenne (French Guyana) an incredibly long distance of 2600 nautical miles . Since then there have been a further two races across this route in 2009 (22 rowers, including one woman, only 13 competitors passed the finish line) and in 2012 (23 rowers, including one woman, 15 competitors passed the finish line)
